A few of in this elite group excelled in cricket both in school and for the country.  Niranjan Rodrigo played for St. Peter's College from 1978 – 1982 (both years included) for a total of five years. An all-rounder, he was in the 1978 Peterite team led by Suraj Abeysekara that won the big match by six wickets. Rumesh Ratnayake, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played in 23 Tests and 70 ODIs from 1982 to 1993. He is the current fast bowling coach of Sri Lanka national cricket team.
