Old Peterite (60s) Raj Philip passed away recently in Welland, Ontario, Canada. Raj was the son of Mrs Philip primary teacher in the 50's. His sisters Moira and Indiri Philip taught after her retirement. Raj was a strong bass choirister in the Choirs of St.Peter's College and St.Mary's Church at Bambalapitiya.
PHILIP, Francis (Raj) – Passed away peacefully at the N.H.S. Welland site on March 10, 2015. Beloved husband of Shantini, ever loving father of Nirushan (Chantal) and Nimesha. Much adored "Daddo" (Grandpa) of Veronica, Noah and Jayden. Precious brother of Moira Pakiyanayagam (James), Indri Swampillai (the late Anton) and of the late Tilak (Laleetha). Francis retired from Linhaven Home in St. Catharines where he worked as a Stationary Engineer. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, numerous relatives and friends, both here and in Sri Lanka.
He was cremated according to his wishes. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Kevin's Church, 303 Niagara Street, Welland at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015. Fellowship to follow. A private internment of his ashes will take place at a later date. The family wishes to express their thanks to the doctors and staff at the Welland site for their kind and compassionate care.
