Dear Peterites,
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dr. Nielhaan Samaranayake, Old Peterite and Past President, SPC-OBU 2011-2013. Cremation will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the General Cemetery Kanatte. Cortege leaves residence 526/1, Thesath Mawatha, Battaramulla at 4:30 pm.
Dr. Nielhaan was an energetic and brilliant medical professional who was a livewire of the St. Peter’s College OBU of which he was president in 2012. He is survived his wife Dilco, and children Oshadi and Kavisha. Our hearts go out to the family. Evidently, Dr. Nielhaan underwent major surgery a few months back (Pancreatic Cancer) and was on the road to recovery but sadly his condition deteriorated resulting in his demise a few days ago.
Photo shows Rev. Fr. Travis Gabriel, Rector, SPC with Dr. Nielhaan Samaranayake in 2012.
JPAA Canada interfaced with Dr. Nielhaan constantly when he was heading the OBU. He was very supportive of our joint association.
May His Sou Rest in Peace!
