SPC TEAM 2015The Inaugural Philip-Eddie Buultjens Memorial challenge trophy donated by Rohan Bultjens was played in Asgiriya stadium Kandy. The Peterites put into bat by their opponents enjoyed themselves with almost all of their batters contributing well. Lakshina Rodrigo top scored with 70 which was studded with 2 sixes and 9 fours facing 88 deliveries. This was his fourth consecutive half century. He was well supported by Sachin Dalpathado who made 53 with 7 fours off 82 balls. This pair put 85 for the third wicket. Sachin having struggled through out these season finally found some rhythm out their in the crease. Left arm spinner Duvindu Thilakaratne captured 3 for 40 but skipper Raveen Sayer was expensive in his haul of 3 for 114. St. Peter's posted yet another good 1st innings score of 291 all out in just 69.4 overs. With their strong in form bowling attack this first innings total was more than enough for them to put pressure on the home side.

Trinity College came on to bat in third session of day one. Before play was called off due to bad light they were 27 for no loss, trailing by 266 runs. Even though they didn't loose any wickets in the first day, second day was a nightmare for the home side. St. Peter's spinners took total control of the match as they made the batters crumble down one after the other. Vinu Mohotti leading from the front bagged his third fifer for this season, finishing with figures of 5 for 28. Left arm spinner Ashanth Malka chipped in with 2 wickets for 25 runs. Trinity was bundled out for just 104 runs in just 45.2 overs with Arjuna Jayasinghe top scoring with 27 runs, still trailing by 187 runs.

Having to bat out half a day in order to save the match, Trinity were ripped apart yet again by the spin bowling attack of St. Peter's led by Vinu Mohotti. Trinity gave a good fight with Duvindu Thilakaratne scoring a hard earned half century but he kept loosing partners from the other end. Mohotti's consistency and discipline made the batters fight hard for runs. The rest of the bowling assisted Mohotti by not releasing pressure at the other end. Mohotti grabbed 4 wickets for 42 runs, missing a well deserved ten wicket haul by just one scalp. Off spinner Thaneesha Weerakoon proved his talent yet again by taking 3 wickets for 33 runs. The home side was bundled out for just 140 runs in 59 overs giving St. Peter's college a mammoth win of an innings and 47 runs..
