A splendid all round performance by St. Peters skipper Nipunaka Fonseka enabled their under 13 Division 1 Cricket team to beat Debarawewa National School on first innings and make it to the third round of the All-island Schools Cricket Tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.
Bowling first Nipunaka's nagging length of fine leg spin bowling earned him five wickets for 13 runs and he followed up with a chanceless knock of 100 not out to guide his side to safety. This stylish left hander has already scored almost 400 runs this season so far making him one of top players in the league.
Debarawewa Central: 128 all out in 55 overs (Suresh Chaturanga 28, Rifnas Saudin 21, Kevin Angelo 2 for 31, Saviry Peiris 2 for 26, Nipunaka Fonseka 5 for 13)
St.Peter's 196 for 5 in 41 overs (Nipunaka Fonseka 100 n.o., Himsara Randeni 66, Maura Dilshan 3 for 58)
