It was a night, and what a night it was. The Joes & Petes rocked Toronto on October 4th. The Grand Ballroom at Markham Convention Centre was packed to capacity as JPAA Canada ushered in the 275+ guests into the ballroom. A live band – ZEROX and DJ – GROOVE from Washington DC (a.k.a. Shawn Corera, an Old Peterite) provided music. What really captured the imagination was the presence of many old boys from both schools living in Canada and USA. There were guests all the way from Sydney, Australia; California, Washington DC and Ottawa, Ontario.

It was one happy family when "Two True Brothers of One Family" met to celebrate their 30 years in Canada as a joint entity. The only joint organization for the Joes & Petes in the world and also the first Alumni Association to be formed in Canada among the Sri Lanka Schools. Quite unique and still very strong and united. Despite the challenges of the times, JPAA Canada has stood firm and carried on regardless.

A feature of the evening was a leadership initiative of JPAA Canada President Upali Obeyesekere who launched the JPAA Hall of Fame Awards and Awards of Excellence for the first time in its 30 years. Those inducted into the JPAA Hall of Fame are Hazmee Hameed (SPC Rugby & Athletics), Ranjit Wijeyesekere (SPC Athletics), Jeyer Rodrigues (SPC Rugby), Rajive Benedict (SJC Cricket) and Crofton Joseph (SPC Athletics/Rugby/Cricket/Hockey/Basketball).

The Award of Excellency was presented to Roshan Navaratnam & Srinath Wijeyeratne for launching the "Saints Quadrangular" T20 Cricket Tournament in Canada in 2009. Other winners were Christy Joseph (JPAA President 2010/2011/2012) and Benito de Silva (Old Josephian who helped form JPAA in 1984 along with Old Peterite Upali Obeyesekere).

Kudos to Chair, Dance Committee Jerome Fernandez and his team comprising of Roshan Navaratnam, Rehan Goonetilleke, Ranier De Lambert, Rod Diaz, Jeevan Pragasam and Upali Obeyesekere for pulling off a splendid dance with a high rating from the 275+ guests who had a great time.

MC for the evening was Rehan Goonetilleke, an Old Peterite.

Consul General for Sri Lanka in Toronto, Mr. Mohan De Alwis and Mrs. Roma De Alwis were present at the dance. Mr. De Alwis is alumnus of St. Joseph's College.
