St. Joseph’s College storm into semis

SJC LOGO SITESt. Joseph's College Colombo advanced to the semi final of the 'Singer Trophy' Under 17 division one inter schools cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association yesterday at Mercantile Cricket Association Ground.

St. Joseph's College Colombo beat Royal College Panadura by 14 runs according to Duckworth Lewis system in the pre-quarter final round match was played at MCA grounds yesterday.

St Joseph scored 211 runs in 50 overs. Shevon Fonseka scored 58 runs with good contributions from Kevin Coting 57 Tashan Perera 28 and Sandaruwan Rodrigo 23 runs.

For Panadura Royal Rangana Kumarasiri and Raveen Lakshan shared three wickets each and Sachin Tharuka took 2 for 21.

In reply, Royal College Panadura were restricted for 117 for 5 in 31 overs. Pathum Nirmal scored 31 Hashan Vimukthi not out 27 and Raveen Lakshan scored 26 also batted well.

For the Josephians Roshan Perera took 3 for 26 .

St. Joseph's Colombo will meet Trinity College Kandy in the semi final next week.
