Canada Series 30th Anniversary “Battle of the Saints” on July 1

Joe-Pete Match LogoThe 30th anniversary "Big Match" between the Old Josephians Vs. Old Peterites gets under way at the picturesque King City Grounds on Tuesday, July 1. Guests of honour at the game will be two Peterite legends of yesteryear – David Heyn (Peterite captain of 1964 and former Sri lanka player) and Dr. Adiel Anghie (Peterite Cricket Captian of 1961 & Rugby Captain of 1959). There will be two other "Big Matches" played on the same King City sports facility. The "Battle of the Blues" or Royal/Thomian will be on Ground 1 while the "Battle of the Hills" or Trinity/Antonian will be played on Ground 3. A large crowd is expected at the King City grounds which is a spectacular five ground facility that is an ICC approved cricket ground.

The teams are shown below. Very impressive line up of players with Canadian opener Ruvindu Gunasekara turning out for the Peterites. This will be a main draw besides other former Canadian players like Brian Rajadurai (SJC), Nigel Isaacs (SJC), Trevin Bastiampillai (SJC), Arvind Kandappa (SJC), P. Ravishankar (SJC) in the strong Josephian XI. Team list is shown below.

The Masters game will be captained by Milan Gunawardena (SJC) and Rehan Goonetilleke (SPC). The Main game will be captained by Arvind kandappa (SJC) and Rod Diaz (SPC).
