“Legends” organize the Annual Teacher’s Day at SPC

Peterites born II~~The Old Peterites Group of 87-92 of St. Peter’s College OBU the “Legends” as they are known organized the Annual Teachers’ day on the 12th of October for the 13th consecutive year to coincide with the World Teachers day celebrated globally.

This year, to raise the required funds for the Teachers’ Day and spice up the event, they first organised “The Old Peterites group of 87-92 with Marians” which was a musical evening with a difference where entire families including children were part of it. This was held at the Empire Ball Room of the Mount Lavinia Hotel on 13th September 2013 under Chairmanship of Dinesh Rodrigo.

The Teachers’ Day 2013 was held on 12th October and the exiting day for the tutorial staff began at the Ratmalana Air Force Base with a flight to see the harbor, twin towers and the city of Colombo and thereafter along the coastal line they were taken up to Kalutara and back to Ratmalana. This was followed by a guided tour of the Air Force Museum and a traditional breakfast at the Air Force restaurant. The day’s activities then continued at Vinrich Lake Resort Bolgoda with a day filled with fun, creative games and competitions and a sumptuous buffet lunch.

Shamal Perera, Project Chairman of Teachers day 2013 stated that committee was encouraged by the commendations from the both the Priest Community & the Tutorial staff for an excellent day organised by the Old Peterites of 87-92.

Revd. Fr.Travis Gabriel, Rector of St .Peter’s College thanked the committee for a truly memorable day. Following which both the OBU President Dr. Nicholas Jayasekera and the Vice President of the Teachers Guild Mr. Canisius Ranasinghe also thanked the committee.

Commenting on the Teachers Day 2103, the President of Old Peteries Group of 87-92 Lindsay Melder stated that by the Grace of God the support of the committee they were able conclude the event successfully and show their gratitude the Tutorial staff of St. Peter’s College. Further he thanked Shan Jaleel the Immediate Past President of the Batch for handling the coordination of the Air Force activities and the committee for the commitment and unity to make the event truly memorable.
