Peterites in innings win over Wesley

SPC LOGOThushan Jayasuriya A superb all round performance by St.Peter's College helped them to cruise to an innings and 147 run win over Wesley College in their Singer inter-school under 19 match concluded at Bambalapitiya yesterday.This is their third outright victory for the season. Batting first the Peterites made a mammoth 357 for 4 declared with Lakshina Rodrigo (89), Chandula Jayamanne(81), Didulana Medis (72) and Hashan Wanasekara making useful contributions. Lakshina's knock which came in 71 balls was studded with four boundaries. Chandula who scored 81 in 50 balls included nine hits to the ropes and one over it. Lakshina and Chandula were involved in a fourth wicket stand of 148 runs while Didulana and Hashan put on a second wicket stand of 102 runs. The Wesleyites in reply were all out for 156 runs in 74.3 over with Reshana Seneviratne top scoring with 66 runs which included nine fours.Vinu Mohotti took 3 for 27. Forced to follow on the visitors were dismissed for a pathetic 54 runs with Vinu Mohotti claiming another six wickets(6 for 30) for a match bag of nine wickets while Asanth Malka captured 3 for 06. St.Peter's: 357/4 declared in 57 overs (Lakshina Rodrigo 89, Hashan Wanasekara 67, Didulana Medis 72, Chandula Jayamanne 81) Wesley : 156 in 74.3 overs (Reshana Seneviratne 66, Vinu Mohotti 3/27, Manelka de Silva 2/30, Taneesha Weerakoon 2/41) and 54 in 43.5 overs (Jonathan Caderamanpulle 17, Vinu Mohotti 6/30, Asanth Malka 3/06).
